What I do for work: I help people better understand the tool you're sitting in front of.
Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now: Jackson Hole WY, Cedar City UT, a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria LTD, Logan UT, a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder, Pueblo CO, St. George UT, a 1995 Nissan King Cab pickup, SLC UT, a 1972 VW Camper Van, Boise ID, Santa Clara UT, my inlaw's spare bedroom .....
When I started running and what got me started: Jan 1 1999, I quit smoking and started "running" to get ready for the 1999 St. George Marathon
What does running mean to me: It's an excuse to get up early, take two hour lunches and stay up late.
What I like about trail/mountain running: The clarity that comes with the miles
Favorite running trail and why: Pine Valley Oak Grove to Summit Trail near St. George Utah This is a really tough three miles up and three miles down that will get you more than 3000 feet of elevation gain (and 3000 feet of elevation loss). During the summer months, the trail is infested with biting cedar gnats that test your mental toughness and it's a great leg & lung punisher. It'll kick your fanny.
Best running experience: Beating my wife to the finish line in the 2002 Tri-State
Worst running experience: 2007 Squaw Peak 50 DNF
Neatest thing found on a run: I found a dollar in Las Vegas on the Strip blowing toward me in a 50 mph head wind during the 2003 Las Vegas Marathon.
Running related bathroom stop story: finding no cover on the side of a busy road during morning rush hour traffic, at least I had enough time to keep the shorts clean. 50 feet from a gas station that I couldn't make it to.
Running pet peeves: People that can walk faster than I run
Other stuff: Nike+ shoes and an Ipod are a great training tool until someone steals your Ipod Favorite Blogs: |
